Rich people across the world hold about 10% of their wealth in treasure assets, such as art, antiques and classic cars – with jewellery proving most popular.

That’s the main finding of a study by Barclays Wealth, released 11 June, which said that amid market turmoil, investors are looking for tangible and familiar assets.

Vintage movie posters offer far more than a chance to share in a passion for films. The finest early posters are highly collectible works of art that have enjoyed great investment returns in recent years.

The record paid for a movie poster is £397,762 (€481,713) for an art deco advert for the 1927 futuristic film Metropolis directed by Fritz Lang. The sepia-coloured poster stands seven foot tall and provides an image of monumental skyscrapers with the iconic beautiful female robot, Maria, staring out.

The world’s super rich are still buying luxury properties, or those priced $5 million (€3.62 million) or over, and are mostly paying cash to do so, according to a report released by Christie’s International Real Estate.
