Last family-owned Cognac house launches rare vintages
Camus, the last independent, family-owned cognac house, has launched what it calls an “outstanding and unequalled range of Certified Single Vintage Cognacs”.
Tracing its history back to 1863, Camus is releasing eight vintages, including a number dating back to the early 1970s. Expect to pay as much as a €1,000 for some of the rarer vintages.
As far as the house of Camus is concerned, making top quality cognac is all about being a family business. Jean-Paul Camus, the fourth generation owner of the famous liquour maker, once said: “Making a great cognac is easy. All you need is a great-grandfather, a grandfather and a father who have done it before you.”
And Camus isn’t about to stop the family tradition anytime soon. Fifth-generation Cyril Camus, 39, is currently working at the cognac maker.
