Book reviews: Forman's Games: The Dark Underside of the London Olympics

In the run-up to the 2016 Rio Olympic Games, Lance Forman, the fourth-generation boss of the 100-year-old London based family business, H Forman & Son, published his own David and Goliath account of the 2012 London Olympics. H Forman & Son is still in business as “Britain's oldest salmon curers” in London's East End. The book discusses their dealings with the politicians, the International Olympic Committee and regulators as they were threatened with eviction so the Olympic Park could be built. The then Mayor of London Ken Livingstone and organising committee chairman Sebastian Coe also feature in Forman's rogues gallery. This is a compelling page-turner revealing the shady underbelly of the otherwise successful London Olympics and, while Forman's politicking may grate with some, many family business principals will relate to feeling like the whole world is against you.
