Campden Wealth launches joint venture with India's Patni family

By Nicholas Moody

CampdenFB and CampdenFO is to increase its focus on Indian family businesses and family wealth issues following a tie-up between its publisher, Campden Wealth, and the Patni family.

Campden Wealth has completed a joint venture with Amit and Arihant Patni, the sons of Gajendra Patni - co-founder of Patni Computer Systems, to launch Campden Family Connect (CFC) in India.

The joint venture will result in more Indian-focused family business and family wealth stories online and in print.

CFC is the pre-eminent private membership network for India's ultra-high net worth (UHNW) community with investible assets of more than $50 million, family business owners and their family offices.

It will deliver local and global networking opportunities, access to international best practice family business, family office and wealth management education and advocacy for families in India, with the headquarters based in Mumbai. It builds on Campden Wealth's existing network of 1,300 family principals across 30 countries.

India has an estimated 2,083 UHNWs with more than $50 million net wealth, 3% higher than 2014, according to Credit Suisse's Global Wealth Report 2015.

“This is an exciting development for Campden Wealth, as we continue to grow our global footprint. This partnership in India will offer greater connectivity for our international membership and will provide the Indian UHNW community with direct access to best practice education from families around the world,” said Dominic Samuelson, CEO of Campden Wealth.

“We realized the opportunity in India,” added Henry Samuelson, Director of Membership for Campden Wealth. “The desire for Indian families to engage on a global level and the ability for us to deliver western education and business relationships is why we created CFC. We are delighted to be partnering with the Patni family, who have been pioneers the family office space in India, since 2006”.

"Being one of the leading business families in India and running a family office for a decade, we always felt a need to establish a quality networking platform for business families and their next-gen, therefore having partnered with Campden Wealth and creating CFC in India has filled the gap which was missing,” explained Amit Patni.

“CFC gives Indian families the opportunity to attend high-quality events not only in India but also Campden's global conferences and workshops. We are very excited to have done this."

CFC will host a flagship 'Families in Business Conference' in New Delhi on 12-13 July 2016 and a 'Family Office & Investment Conference' in Mumbai on 30 November to 1 December 2016, alongside a series of private member roundtables and co-investment workshops in Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bengaluru.
