Lombard Odier endorses sustainable future
Family-owned Swiss private bank Lombard Odier Darier Hentsch has launched the LODH Chair for Future Generations at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL).
The Chair aims to provide long-term support for multidisciplinary and international research conducted by EPFL in the field of sustainable development in order to meet one of the main challenges facing society: creating a sustainable future.
"The LODH Chair for Future Generations intends to establish an important link between the environmental sciences and social behaviours to benefit the international academic and scientific community," said Thierry Lombard (pictured), senior partner at LODH and family member.
This represents a new phase in the ongoing partnership between LODH and Generation Investment Management, which was co-founded by former US vice president Al Gore and David Blood. In November 2007, the two companies announced their decision to work together in promoting sustainable investment and seeking ways of maximising the returns on investment in this field, with LODH becoming the exclusive distributor of Generation's financial products in Europe.
"Solving the climate crisis will require the efforts of business, finance, governments and individuals, but it is clear that the academic world, and the leading edge research that it produces, will be crucial to the development of a sustainable society," said Blood.
